🌈Hey!

We’ve heard some rumors that you’ve been looking for a space to read, have discussions, discover new book recommendations, join a book club, and support the LGBT+ library and we heard you 💫

That’s why The Plot is Queer is starting this September 2026 and will last all the way till August 2027, and we want you with us! 🦋

✨Mark your calendars, dust off your bookshelves and notebooks, and get ready for exciting things ahead!

🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈  The Plot is Queer is not just about reading books and having important conversations. It’s about taking space, creating safer and braver spaces to gather, create, and connect, stepping away from constant noise, and going deeper into topics and issues that matter. It’s about centering voices that are too often unheard, remembering the value of reading together, and building and supporting our community.

The LGBT Library is already the biggest in the Baltics, but can we make it bigger? 👀 Can we create a lending system? Can we collaborate, organize donations, and build events together?

We say yes 💛 What about you? Are you coming along?

In The Plot is Queer, you can join and support through:

Workshops, gatherings, and book club meetings
Throughout the project, we’ll read books together, host discussions, and dedicate different months to specific topics and conversations. We’ll also organize creative writing workshops and Living Library events. The Living Library events will create opportunities for people to share their own stories, as well as stories and experiences our community needs to hear, making participants the “books.”

⚬ Building a volunteer community for the LGBT+ Library
Together, we aim to support the development of the only LGBTQIA+ library in Riga and Latvia, located in LGBT House. Volunteers will help create systems for book lending, cataloguing, and building structures that allow people to visit, read, join activities, and contribute, Volunteers will also help manage book donations, connect with NGOs and youth centers, and support the creation of videos, monthly resources, book recommendations, and other community materials connected to the themes we explore.

⚬ Creating a closing festival and queer book fair
At the end of the project, we’ll organize a queer book fair featuring queer writers, artists, publishers, and bookstores presenting and selling their work. The festival will also include donation spaces, discussions, panels, and workshops, serving as a conclusion to the project.

We would be so happy to have you join any of the activities and share your voice, thoughts, and experiences with us. We all need care, support, and community, especially now 🦋

🌻 Stay tuned for upcoming events and find out how you can join different phases of the project!
